Your Own Resources

You can also add any Web resource by entering its URL in the Instructional Architect by following the three simple steps as indicated.

• First you select the folder where you would like the resource to be located.
• Next you type in a title for the resource you are about to add. Whatever you type here will show up as a link on your final project.
• Finally you provide the URL for the resource you'd like to add. This can most easily and accurately done by opening up the resource in a separate browser window, copying the URL from there, and pasting it in the space provided. After you hit "SAVE," it will be in the folder you specified.

In this activity, you will explore how to add your own Web resources to your resource list using the Instructional Architect. When you complete this activity, do a self-assessment.

Activity

You have created a folder to organize your resources in section "Search NSDL." Try to add two of your own resources into this folder. These may be resources you found through UEN or some other collection outside of NSDL. Or, you can use Google or another search engine.

Now you have learned all the ways to gather resources in the Instructional Architect. Think about the following questions:

• How do you find high-quality online resources? What search engines do you use? What search keywords do you use?
• What are some of the advantages of using these resources in your teaching?
• What are some of the disadvantages?

Checklist
