Some of the writings selected may include ideas or language that are offensive to you. You are not required to agree with any of the assigned readings. The purpose of this course is not to force you to believe the arguments presented by the readings. Rather, the purpose is to have you think critically and write about other viewpoints. If you find yourself emotionally upset by a particular reading, try taking a break for a few hours and then coming back to the text.
