Pilgrimage as ritual of social unity. Buddhists of Thailand make pilgrimages form all over to visit the Shrine of the Emerald Buddha located on the Royal Palace Grounds, Bangkok, Thailand. When they kneel in front of any image of the Buddha, they are careful not to point the soles of their feet at the image. |
